Fix Common Problems
License Activation
[+]
[-]
I get the message "A Temporary FormDocs license
validation error has occurred. Verify your internet connection is working and restart FormDocs."
If your FormDocs license(s) suddenly fail to activate even when you can confirm you have a working internet connection
and one or more licenses available to activate, the problem may be due to a Microsoft Windows update KB5018410. The
update causes instability with the TLS handshake in FormDocs and certain other applications.
The solution is to
obtain and install a subsequent Microsoft Windows update KB5020435 which fixes the issue of SSL/TLS connection
instability.

While trying to install
FormDocs CMS-1500, I get a message, "Invalid registration code or licensee name",
or "the license you provided is not compatible with this FormDocs product".
The licensee name and registration code that you were provided
are correct.
You must enter them exactly character for character otherwise it will fail.
If you are doing a copy/paste of either then you may be picking-up an extra
space character which will also cause it to be rejected.
Finally, your licensee name and
registration code are tied to the specific FormDocs product and version you
originally purchased; if you try to apply your license to a different product or version
then it will be rejected.

I want to move my Claim file(s) from one computer to another.
Before you perform these steps you should first install FormDocs CMS-1500 onto the new PC.
Your CMS-1500 Claim file(s) contains the words "CMS-1500" and has the file extension ".fdd" and,
depending on your Windows version, will typically be located in one of the following folders:
"C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\" or "C:\Mydocuments\" or "C:\Documents\".
If you can't find them in any of those folders then use Windows File Explorer to point to your "C:\"
drive and then search your entire drive for files ending in ".fdd" by typing "*.fdd"
without the double quotes.
- When you locate your claim file(s), copy them to a USB memory stick.
- Move the memory stick to your new PC and from there copy your claim file(s) from the memory stick into the
same folder on the new PC as you found them in on the old PC.
- Start FormDocs on the new PC; FormDocs "STANDARD" and "PROFESSIONAL" should automatically
open your claim file; with FormDocs "LITE" you will need to manually select the individual claim file to open.

into the "C:\Program Data\FormDocs\Autofill" folder on the new PC; note that you

License Management

I already purchased a FormDocs CMS-1500 license but it
still says I have a free or expired trial and it's prompting me to buy it again.
You need to apply your license information and then allow the software
to activate over the internet. If you fail to perform both of these
steps then the software will remain in demo mode.
If you have FormDocs CMS-1500 version 10 or newer, you can use the
'Apply my License' option, which is available on the FormDocs CMS-1500
Demo startup screen.
Otherwise, for FormDocs CMS-1500 version
9.6 or earler, you will need to re-install FormDocs CMS-1500 and enter
your license information during setup.
If you
recently purchased FormDocs CMS-1500, check your Spam & Trash folders
for a FormDocs e-mail containing your license information and
step-by-step instructions on how to install and activate your software.

I get a message that my FormDocs CMS-1500 license has
been installed too many times.
A FormDocs CMS-1500 license enables you to install FormDocs CMS-1500 onto a limited number
of computers. If you exceed that number then you will be prevented from
installing FormDocs CMS-1500 again. You can free-up FormDocs CMS-1500 licenses by
un-installing FormDocs CMS-1500 from computers you no longer use. Start Windows
Control Panel and open 'Add/Remove Programs'. Select FormDocs CMS-1500 in the
list of programs and click 'Remove'. During the un-install process you
may be prompted by your security software for permission to make an
internet connection, which you must allow.

Networked Computers

I have FormDocs CMS-1500 Professional with multiple users
but not everyone can open
and share the same Claim file.
On all computers press "Work With" on the FormDocs CMS 1500 toolbar and then choose "Config".
In the Configuration section ensure the path to the Claim file is the same on all computers
and accessible to all computers.
Printing
[+]
[-]
When I print a Claim the data is not perfectly aligned on the Claim form.
Press "Print" on the FormDocs CMS-1500 toolbar and then choose "Print Alignment". Determine the
direction in which all printed data needs to be shifted and then use the directional arrows in
the dialog box to shift the data up or down, left or right, as necessary. Note that it is acceptable
for small amounts of data to print outside the boxes.
General
[+]

I get a message "Unable to access the printer".
Some older versions of FormDocs require that you have a 'default' printer configured in your
Windows Control Panel under 'Printers'. If you don't have or want a printer connected to your
PC then just install any HP LaserJet print driver and then select it to be your 'default' printer.
